good shoes

Public domain image via vintageprintables.com the day i found my ways i caught myself in a tangle tightly twined  around a forkful of  spaghetti from a can't  just pullin' the wool  over easy under the radar love, life, and my pursuits; a hapless sock thread ensnared by a tack on the threshold  unwinding, revealing a novice habit trail from door to table, to chair, to bed just livin' but barely breaking a sweat  smokin' a bowl of dead ends Is that all there is? Peggy Lee, blinked lookin' for  high bars in low places forcin' a smile, though her eyes ordered a double some things are better left unsaid but winked at?...hell yeah I caught your act, you charlatan  I say, strippin' off my socks  I know your ways You ought to play  out in the mud in your good shoes  maybe, someday Finally Rene~July 2013 For 100 Word Song The so...

P.S.

If I could have just said everything that I really wanted to say at the time that it was needed instead of later the next day I would not need to scribble into letters words that could not find their way from my head to my mouth lost, blindly shuffling traveling south If I could have posted all these notes to everyone I've ever met I would love to see their faces smiling at what I should have said Rene~June 2012 For Magpie Tales Image Credit: Still Life, 1670, detail by Jean François de Le Motte

bittersweet graffiti

My first thought at seeing this weeks Magpie photo prompt (below) was "There's always room for Jell-O". I then read the sentence under the photo.... "a grave in the Novodevichy Cemetery, Moscow" No room for Jell-O there. As sweet and non-filling as it is... ~ you can't take it with you that's a bone hard fact but you certainly can leave a little something for dessert behind... a gift to the world a memento a trinket or two of your time spent here on this rock. what would you leave your jewels your words your mother's eyes your father's voice what would you give to a world that held you ~ a deep fear of mine is leaving you alone behind worse than that is you leaving me before your time ~ Ahhh life. How's it going so far? Like my friend Braja reminds me Don't forget to laugh Rene ~ February 2012 For Magpie Tales "a grave in the Novodevichy Cemetery, Moscow"

seismic inactivity

I am an earthquake hot spot a jenga nightmare no room for that one delicate last stir of a straw crazy I know but I cannot find the fault so I breathe without exhaling and I stretch elbows turned inwards-always and I wait for it all to fall apart or the joke to crack Rene ~ January 2012

battenburg lace

there's no emptying my thoughts my words my endless, brilliant failed to-do's without carelessly spilling a drop or seven battenburg lace sunday afternoon petal edged rivers run, rise and gently stumble over stones and tied tongues dripping dropping polka dotting splashing down crimson Rene ~ February/November 2011

M-80

photo credit: Rene After we'd loosed that last thunderclap of the summer, up on the old Erie Lackawanna tracks, I swear we heard the Universe exhale: "Thank God that's fucking over with." Me and Brady walked back to town on the rails strutting like dimestore peacocks smoking Marlboros and talking like we knew about everything and didn't give a shit about nothin' So Brady asks me, "You scared about startin' high school?" "Naw, I ain't scared" "You lie, asshole" " Brady, you smell like a bowl of assholes, better pray you stop before school starts" "Yeah, and I know you better pray to the titty fairy before school starts" Usually the shit that Brady said didn't bother me, because we were always just kinda foolin' and playin' around but, I don't know. That day it was weird. And instead of punching him the arm, I just got all quiet. And so he was all quiet. An...
