Maybe I'm reading too much into it. But this poem seems to be aware that the color is always there and only shows after the chlorophyll goes away. Yet the poet still remains in awe of the beauty. That is the best way to use science.
I'm with Fred Miller. Interesting idea that autumn shades are there all the time, masked by the green of photosynthesis! Colour meunioneun awestruck too.
