love
the bag rips at the seams
i'm mindful of the eggs
precious, few
expensive
I know love
i fry an egg
a perfect,
unbroken sun

and fear
chase me
chase me
up mahogany staircases
in a full film noir
monochromatic
stiletto'd double step
sprint
a sack of groceries
an open mouth
a french baguette
a lusty tongue
do I take flight
in a full film noir
monochromatic
stiletto'd double step
sprint
a sack of groceries
an open mouth
a french baguette
a lusty tongue
do I take flight
to the roof
or jump
or jump
risking the landing
the bag rips at the seams
i'm mindful of the eggs
precious, few
expensive
I know love
will stay
for tea
and anecdotes
for tea
and anecdotes
but fear demands
bourbon
and
bourbon
and
bondage
i turn the key
my pursuers
greet me
at the door, hungry
i fry an egg
a perfect,
unbroken sun
love smiles
fear
stabs the light
with a crust
of dry bread
i realize
now that i've fed them
they'll never
leave me

i could easily see you up the stairs with the disingrating bag of groceries...and breakfast is good anytime...smiles.
This has wicked flow and great attitude. It creates a world of its own, full of magic and mayhem. Very enjoyable, thanks.
ReplyDeleteHA!
ReplyDeleteHaving just finished reading the Shades of Gray Trilogy, I felt like I was reading a snippet, poetically designed. Rene... what have you been reading?! ;-)
Kim, I've never read that series...but thanks:)
ReplyDeleteThis was actually inspired by a snagged pair of nylons. The snag was ladder like and reminded me of window blind shadows... The kind that are in film noir classics. Inspiración can come from anywhere!
"a sack of groceries
ReplyDeletean open mouth

a lusty tongue"
Exciting and strangely erotic, great pacing and use of language. Those precious eggs too!
oh love this one, Rene. especially the phrases Brian picked out. yowza, very nice! c'mon over for some tea & anecdotes. anytime.
ReplyDeleteLove you, Marian...mean it :)
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed this...the stilettos, the eggs, the alibi......great stuff!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful images here!! Wonderful stanzas. Really like this one:
