left behind
put out of mind
all that care put into
selecting
wrapping
making sure not to forget
forgotten
time and empty hands triggered a memory
a rushing back
a reunion, relief
and for a brief moment
belief
that the world is good.

Oh how many times I have run out of the house without my meticulously wrapped gift.
ReplyDeleteWell done.
That sense of relief is such a magnificent creature... a person could write a book on it, but not say it half so well as you've rendered it here.
ReplyDeletei breathed a nice sigh there at the end rene....very nice write...all is well...nice one shot!
ReplyDeleteLovely. As was "the fire under grace". I'll be back! And thanks for visiting and commenting @ Life is Good.

Well stated bit of dark truth at the end.
"Grace in small things" ;)
ReplyDeleteOh I really like this, it sums up so many of my days suffering as I do with momnesia on a permanent basis :-) There is always that rush of relief and you describe it beautifully.
ReplyDeleteAh, but I believe the world IS basically good despite all...
ReplyDeleteI like it. Nice one shot, and the image works well.
ReplyDeleteI've done that more times than I care to remember.
ReplyDelete"time and empty hands" that line strikes me... and such a beautiful memory of reunion. Thanks
ReplyDeletelove the ups and downs of this - not to forget, forgotten....than the reunion...nice write..bkm
ReplyDelete:) Nice One Shot!!
ReplyDeleteRelief and reunion, relief in reunion...you capture the feeling and posit it well.

that the world is good."
Could be taken darkly though--is it really? Or do we just deceive ourselves? The questions daily greeting us...Wonderful One Shot.
Aah, time for memories to return! And things remembered that were forgotten! Very nice!
ReplyDeleteWe have to make those moments ourselves through effort. Even if the effort is just listening to a bird. Wrapping presents works, too. You're beautiful.

ReplyDeleteI think sometimes we put so much into the wrapping that we forget the present itself. Nice One Shot!
ReplyDeleteSo much of what anything is, is what we believe it is.
