red house, rear window

walls may have ears
but windows have big
mouths that stage whisper
the pillowcase confessions
of their keepers

every last breath
every little death
every dark lacey doing
every coming and going

every sacred locket vesper
you swore you didn't tell
shutter your secrets
shutter them well

  6. Rene,

    A rather scary, all-seeing window!
A clever use of the monster prompt.

  7. I really like this poem. Moral of the story...your secrets aren't safe anywhere! Even the house has ears!

  8. I bought a book of sermons from those Trappists who make the fruitcake. One of the sermons said that when we die we are going to be handed the book of our life and told to read it aloud. So, get used to your flaws and your secrets.
