Lover's Tree

'an as much as he sayed
he loved me
jimmy never did
put
my name
up on lover's tree

'ah gots it bad for ya
emmie
he go 'an cry dat into
my bosom
sucklin' like a newborn
'an springing up between me

'an so i bled
'and i scream
'an i cry hard tears
jus' like a woman do
for dat tiger man
jimmy

'an den he tell me
yous a sweet girl
i luv you
emmie...
yous a sweet, sweet
girl

'an as much as he sayed
he loved me
jimmy never did
put
my name
up on dat lover's tree

  4. You really put lots of good stuff together, there. It's a novel in a poem almost.

  5. I liked this a whole lot, Rene. It's put a whole film-reel in my head and I don't know if the poem is really as innocent as it seems (especially since I read your "red whore's dress" comment over at John Hayes's.)

  7. Thanks everyone for reading and commenting...

    Emmie and Jimmy.
They've entered a new phase in their relationship.
They both have some growing up to do.
    They're not kids anymore.

The tree is one I photographed in the Public Garden in Boston

  8. This is a nice respite in my "serious" reading...and then I think...why, THIS is about as serious as it gets.

I'm guessing your name finally made it to that tree?

    Thanks
    Peace!
