It's amazing what you find in your camera. My daughter has taken to building little groupings of items and photographing them all throughout the house.
I refer to this as shrining, as they often look like those roadside shrines that you see near a fatal accident site.
Her shrines pop up like mushrooms and don't really seem to have a theme, just whatever objects happen to be her favorite things of the moment.
I am surprised that there is not a picture of Taylor Swift and the phrase "Basically, Mom"...involved in this grouping.
Maybe that's a good thing.
I am noticing that she has used the bathroom throw rug as a background for this composition.
If you look very closely you will notice toothpaste stains.
Bet you wish you had smell-o-vision.
The shrines don't really bother me, right now, so I just let her be her little creative self.
She's an only child and a bit on the arty side so this is a form of entertainment for her, and most likely a way of escaping my jibberish. :)
What I find interesting about her shrines are these intricate little stone towers that look on the verge of tipping but somehow, do not.
Is this some sort of a sign, I wonder? Or is she just really good at Jenga?
Peace - Rene

That is just so cute. Keep the photos and one day you'll both be able to giggle at this.
We gave our daughter a digital camera for Christmas when she was around 5. She took pictures of everything. And I mean everything. Dishes in the sink, shoes, piles of dirty laundry, "stuff" in the toilet...everything. It was always enlightening for us to see what she found interesting enough to take a picture of.
Encourage her arty side.
i'm just picturing
what it takes for her to:
. set it all up, make it artistic & meaningful
. photograph it (wow!)
. put it all away
Karen's right... these photos will one day be 10X their current, heart-tugging value!
very cool. and very cool that you love it enough to share!
peace~
I think you have an interior decorator slash sculptor slash artist on your hands.
Bet its a fairy home.
Wait, that sounds like a place for elderly fairies. The not-so-sprites.
A fairy village, perhaps.
Thanks for all of your comments.
Karen - I am a sucker and I cannot throw a single photo away. I cannot even delete them.
Jeff-Oh yeah, I hear ya, we had to put the ki-bosh on her fascination with flushing toilets. And the picures of the laundry room...Jeesh..
Ellen - I have no choice, arty is what she is..
Chuck - She does it so quietly that I don't even notice how much effort it takes.
She takes several shots at different angles, too...amazing
As far as putting it all away, I gotta be honest...that's usually up to the production assistant aka me :)
Suzy - I hope so..she can help her Mom grow out of her shabby chic phase...
Ann - I was informed by my brother that the rock towers are cairns (sp?) and that she's gone Hobbit.
That's all for now...
Peace - Rene
very interesting ... the creative mind before it gets all cluttered up and self conscious. The pure creative mind ... fascinating. I'm new to your blog so I'm not sure how old she is (I'll go now and search for that info). cheers, Susan
I applaud letting the Creative Genius-- stained rug and all-- have free reign, Lady Rocks...
How fun is that! Maybe she'll grow up to be the person who designs all those fabulous 5th Avenue store windows at Christmas time!
And, I left a little surprise for you on my blog post today. I hope you like it.
How cute, I'm sure it's just a phase! LOL
Basically Rene, she is a little creative genius. Everything looks so oredered and so well, precisely arranged. I am thinking architect or engineer perhaps. Wont it be interesting to see where her future lies. I spent my days colouring in and making things. And I definitely could colour in th erest of my life if I could. And all power to you for letting her become her own little person even if she does borrow the bathroom mat to create her 'pieces'.
I don't have the words to describe how amused I am by this little shrine of hers. Just springs up out of no where, you say? Hilarious.
